Series 202 mottler with squirrel hair and cardboard handle

Very long flat tip mottler with squirrel hair and contoured cardboard handle. Natural squirrel hair is processed using an ancient technique handed down by furriers, characterised by extreme softness and elasticity.

The 202 series flat brush on cardboard is essentially used for picking up and placing gold leaf for gilding technique, thanks to the electrostatic charge typical of this hair. For an optimal use it is recommended to first pass it on velvet. The fineness of the fibre and its flexibility – being associated with a slow and homogeneous release of water – make it ideal for homogeneous applications, precision painting without strokes and large-scale gilding.

Series 202 is characterised by a flat cardboard handle that prevents any type of friction in the applications of gold leaf, whilst offering optimum fullness in the hair and extreme softness. Used especially for extensive backgrounds in gilding, Series 202 is held between the fingers, ensuring greater sensitivity for professional gilders. The brushstroke is elastic, soft and keeps its shape for a long time, whilst the selection of sizes is broad on average, as the most commonly used by restorers and gilders.
